What is the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation’s purpose?
The DRB Foundation was formed to promote the use of and educate owners and contractors on how to properly use DRB/DAB boards.
Who should join the DRB Foundation?
Anyone who supports the use of DRBs on construction projects.
How do I become a member of the DRB Foundation?
You can join by going to the membership page of our website and filling out an application form.
How much does it cost to be a member of the DRB Foundation?
Regular membership dues can range from $50 to $500 depending on the membership category you choose.
What qualifications do I need to become a DRB Foundation member?
You should have several years experience in construction or a construction related field. We also recommend that either before or shortly after you join the DRB Foundation that you take the DRB Administration & Practice and DRB Chairing workshops.
Who should become a sustaining or corporate member?
Sustaining and Corporate members provide the DRB Foundation with additional revenue to promote the use of DRBs worldwide. Members who are serving on multiple DRBs are encouraged to become a sustaining member. A corporation that believes in and uses the DRB process, also in encouraged to become a Corporate member.
Is there a membership for developing countries?
Yes, we have developed a low cost membership for developing countries called an Emerging Nations membership. Anyone from the World Banks developing countries list can use this category of membership.
What training courses does the DRB Foundation have?
The Foundation offers seminars on Administration & Practice, Chairing and introductory workshops for owners/contractor groups that are using or wanting to use a DRB on their project.
When and where are the next workshops going to be held?
Please see the calendar for the next scheduled set of workshops or contact the DRB Foundation office for a workshop schedule to be sent to you.
Does the DRB Foundation have a course for large groups?
Yes, we have two workshops for this purpose. They are: Dispute Review Boards: A New Process for Dispute Resolution or the DRB Users workshop. These workshops can be custom designed to fit your group. Please contact the DRB Foundation office and we will have one of our training coordinators call you to discuss your particular program.
Does the DRB Foundation offer certification to its members?
We do not certify people for DRB Boards. However in the U.S. our Administration & Practice and Chairing workshops are required or recommended in many states to work on DRB Boards.
Does the DRB Foundation have a member’s roster for owners and contractors who are looking for qualified DRB panelists?
Yes, we have a DRB Foundation roster of members who have taken our Administration & Practice and Chairing workshops. It is available to any owner or contractor upon request.
What qualifications do I need to serve on a DRB Board?
You should have experience working in construction and have considerable experience in construction claims. We also recommend that you have taken the DRB Administration & Practice and Chairing workshops. Many DRB members have experience as arbitrators and mediators as well as DRB experience.
What services does the DRB Foundation provide to help new members?
The Foundation offers members training workshops, networking with other members, inclusion in the resumes database on the DRBF website, and publications about DRB/DABs.
I’m having a particular problem on the DRB I’m serving on. Is there someone I can call at the Foundation to discuss the issue with?
Yes, call the DRB Foundation office and we will put you in contact with an experienced DRB member.
Are there statistics on the success rate of projects that have used DRBs?
The DRB Foundation publishes annually a database which is a compilation of statistics on DRB projects.
